Prenatal Essentials is a daily effervescent prenatal multivitamin drink for women who are pregnant, nursing, or trying to conceive. One sachet delivers comprehensive support for mother and baby in bioavailable forms - without oversized pills, added sugar, artificial flavors or artificial colors.

Key essential nutrients for pregnancy are included at documented amounts. Methylfolate (L-5-MTHF) at 600 mcg DFE supports healthy early fetal neural development, as the biologically active form of folate, it is ready for your body to use directly. VitaCholine® choline at 110 mg supports baby's brain development and cognitive health, including the healthy development of the hippocampus, the brain's memory center. Iron as ferric trisglycinate at 27 mg supports healthy red blood cell production and the nearly 50% increase in maternal blood volume that pregnancy requires. Amino acid chelated iron is well-absorbed and clinically shown to be gentler on the digestive system than standard iron salts.

For bone health support, calcium citrate and magnesium citrate work alongside vitamin D3 at 1,000 IU and menatto® vitamin K2 as MK-7 at 45 mcg: D3 helps you absorb calcium from your diet, and K2 moves that calcium from the bloodstream into the bone where it is stored. This supports maternal bone density as your body meets the mineral demands of baby's skeletal development. A full B-complex including active methylcobalamin B12 promotes energy metabolism and supports cellular health through the most metabolically demanding period of a woman's life. Electrolytes provide 230 mg potassium with no added sodium, supporting cellular fluid balance without sodium contributing to pregnancy bloating.

Formulated by OB/GYNs. Mix one sachet with 8 oz of water once daily, with or without food. Contains no DHA. Non-GMO, gluten-free, vegetarian, no sugar added, no artificial flavors or colors.

Third-party tested and manufactured in the US in cGMP-certified facilities. Consult your OB/GYN before starting any supplement during pregnancy, while nursing, or while trying to conceive.

Two variables separate a formula that works from one that just reads well on a label: the form of each nutrient, and the amount. With a prenatal there is a third, and it decides everything: whether you can keep taking it.

Form determines bioavailability. Folate is included as L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate (L-5-MTHF), the biologically active form ready for your body to utilize directly without requiring an extra conversion step in the body. B12 is included as active methylcobalamin for the same reason. Calcium and magnesium are provided as citrates for easy absorption. Vitamin K2 is included as MK-7, which stays in circulation longer than other forms.

Tolerability decides whether you keep going. Iron is one of the most common reasons women stop taking their prenatal. Conventional iron salts can cause constipation and nausea, because unabsorbed iron sits in the digestive tract. By using a chelated form of iron (ferric trisglycinate), the mineral is bound to amino acids so it stays stable through the stomach and absorbs efficiently in the small intestine. That is what "non-constipating" truly means: a thoughtful chemistry choice designed to be gentle on the stomach.

Amount determines efficacy, and format makes it possible. Choline is a bulky nutrient that requires significant physical space, making it difficult to fit into standard pills at functional doses. A drinkable sachet provides the room needed to include 110 mg of VitaCholine® alongside a full spectrum of essential vitamins and minerals.

And the part nobody puts on a label: the best prenatal is the one you actually take every day. Designed specifically for pregnancy, a drinkable format removes the hurdle of oversized pills—making your daily routine easier to keep down and stick to.

Key ingredients include:

  • Methylfolate (L-5-MTHF) (600mcg DFE): The biologically active form of folate, supporting healthy early fetal neural development without requiring conversion in the body
  • VitaCholine® Choline (110mg): Supports baby's brain development and cognitive health during rapid growth
  • Chelated iron (27mg as ferric trisglycinate): A gentle, non-constipating form of iron that is well-absorbed, supporting the increased maternal blood volume pregnancy requires
  • Vitamin D3 (1,000 IU) with menatto® Vitamin K2 as MK-7 (45mcg): Bone health support for mother and baby - D3 helps you absorb calcium from your diet, K2 directs it into the bone matrix
  • Full B-complex with methylcobalamin B12: Promotes energy metabolism and supports cellular health throughout pregnancy and nursing
  • Essential vitamin and mineral complex: High-quality, bioavailable nutrients in forms designed for efficient body utilization
  • Potassium (230mg, no added sodium): Supports cellular fluid balance and nerve and muscle function, without sodium contributing to pregnancy bloating

Pour the contents of one sachet into a glass. Add 8 oz of water, stir, and drink.

Take one sachet daily, with or without food. Consistency matters more than timing: pick the moment you will actually repeat every day.

If you are dealing with nausea, a few things can help: take it with food rather than on an empty stomach, try it cold, and sip it slowly. Many women find a drinkable prenatal gentler and easier to keep down than large pills, which is part of why the format exists.

One tin is a 30-day supply. If you miss a day, simply resume taking your normal dose the next day. Consult your OB/GYN before starting any supplement during pregnancy, while nursing, or while trying to conceive.

When To Use

Before, during and after - this is a three-stage formula.

Trying to conceive: start at least three months before trying to conceive. Folate intake before pregnancy and during the initial weeks supports healthy early fetal neural development, a process that begins in the earliest weeks, often before a pregnancy is confirmed.

Pregnancy: take daily through all three trimesters. Nutrient demands rise across gestation, and the third trimester in particular draws on maternal mineral stores for the baby's skeletal development.

Nursing and postpartum: continue through the postpartum period. The nutrient profile supports recovery and the elevated physiological demands of milk production.

Directions: any time of day, with or without food. With food if you are managing nausea - cold, and sipped slowly, tends to go down easier.

Every pregnancy is different. Consult your OB/GYN before starting any supplement during pregnancy, while nursing, or while trying to conceive.

Our Medical Advisory Board formulated Prenatal Essentials to deliver a high-quality, bioavailable multivitamin beverage, at dosages that match published research and meet the unique demands of pregnancy. Many prenatal vitamins use cheaper, less bioavailable forms of nutrients like synthetic folic acid that requires conversion in the body, ferrous sulfate that frequently causes nausea and constipation, inadequate choline despite well-established clinical dosages. We chose better forms at meaningful dosages, in a format you'll actually take every day.

Manufactured in US-based facilities at FDA registered sites, with cGMP certifications. Third-party tested for independent verification of quality. Ingredients are GRAS. Non-GMO; Gluten-free; Vegetarian*; No artificial flavors or colors; No sugar added.

Always consult with your OB/GYN or healthcare provider before starting any supplement during pregnancy or preconception. Prenatal Essentials was developed by our Medical Advisory Board, including practicing OB/GYNs, but cannot replace personalized medical guidance.

Designed to replace multiple supplements with one comprehensive solution for your hormonal stage.

The Pregnancy-Critical Nutrients That Most Prenatals Get Wrong

Three nutrients deserve special attention during pregnancy: folate, choline, and iron. Folate supports spinal cord development from the earliest weeks. Choline supports baby's brain health, including the healthy development of the hippocampus, the brain's memory center. Iron supports the 50% increase in maternal blood volume necessary for increased oxygen needs during fetal development. Many prenatals use the cheapest forms: synthetic folic acid that requires conversion in the body, ferrous sulfate that frequently causes nausea and constipation, and inadequate choline dosages despite clear clinical recommendations. Prenatal Essentials uses the bioactive form of all three: 600mcg DFE of methylfolate (L-5-MTHF), 110mg of VitaCholine®, and 27mg of chelated ferric trisglycinate iron. The complete multi also includes iodine for fetal brain and thyroid development, plus the full vitamin and mineral complex.

A Full B-Complex for Energy and Cellular Health

B-vitamins act as essential coenzymes that convert food into usable energy and support cellular function during this most metabolically demanding period of life. Pregnancy and lactation increases the demand across all B-vitamins, which are water soluble and can easily be depleted during this time, if relying on diet alone. Adequate supplemental B-complex intake supports energy metabolism, brain and nervous system function, and cellular health for both mom and baby.

Bone-Supporting Nutrients for Mom and Baby

During the third trimester, the body draws 250-300mg of calcium daily from maternal mineral stores to support fetal skeletal mineralization. The right combination of nutrients works synergistically to protect bone health for both mother and baby: calcium provides the building block, vitamin D3 enables calcium absorption in the digestive tract from the diet, vitamin K2 directs calcium into the bone where it belongs, and magnesium is critical for supporting bone remodeling a critical function of healthy bones. Both calcium and magnesium are important for muscle health, supporting contraction and relaxation. We use the highly bioavailable Menatto® form of K2 MK-7, which has been shown to have 7× more bioavailability than other forms of K2.

Hydration Support Without the Bloat

Pregnancy expands blood volume by up to 50%, requiring extra hydration and electrolyte support. While most of your daily potassium should come from food, Prenatal Essentials provides 230mg of potassium to help support healthy cellular fluid balance and nervous system function during this time. We've intentionally excluded sodium, which can worsen the bloating and fluid retention common during pregnancy.

THE SCIENCE OF YOUR PREGNANCY YEARS

maybe an image about Prenatal Essentials

Pregnancy is the most metabolically demanding period of a woman's life. Your body is building a baby while adapting to dramatic shifts in human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), progesterone, and estrogen, plus a 50% increase in blood volume that requires an additional 1g of iron alone. These changes increase your need for folate, choline, iron, and the broader vitamin and mineral complex, often beyond what diet alone can provide. Prenatal Essentials delivers nutrients in bioavailable forms to support both you and your baby through every trimester.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes! We recommend starting at least 3 months before you start trying to conceive. Adequate folate intake before pregnancy and during the first weeks is especially critical for neural tube development, which often happens before a woman even knows she's pregnant. The full nutrient profile also supports overall reproductive health and helps build the nutritional reserves your body will draw on during pregnancy.

Prenatal Essentials provides the comprehensive vitamin and mineral foundation that most prescription prenatals deliver — including methylfolate at 600mcg DFE, ferric trisglycinate iron at 27mg (the full pregnancy RDA), choline, iodine, and the complete vitamin and mineral complex. However, every pregnancy is unique. We always recommend reviewing your supplement plan with your OB/GYN, especially if you have specific risk factors or have been prescribed a particular formulation.

Ideally, start before conception (or as soon as you know you're pregnant) and continue through your entire pregnancy. Many providers also recommend continuing through breastfeeding to support recovery and meet the elevated nutritional demands of milk production. There's no fixed "stop" date. Adequate nutrition supports both you and your baby every day of pregnancy and the postpartum period.

Yes. The nutrient profile is well-suited to the postpartum period, when your body is recovering and meeting the high nutritional demands of breastfeeding. Many nutrient needs (choline, B-vitamins, iodine) remain elevated for months after delivery. Research from the MILQ Study has shown that maternal nutrient intake directly influences the nutrient density of breast milk for the first 8.5 months of life. As always, check with your healthcare provider about your individual needs.

No. If you and your doctor think this is important to your pregnancy, we recommend taking a separate high-quality DHA (~200-300mg / day) alongside Prenatal Essentials. Talk to your OB/GYN about the right DHA source for you.

Primary Essentials is formulated for cycling women ages 18–45 and includes botanicals like chasteberry and Affron® saffron specifically for PMS and cycle support — ingredients that aren't typically recommended during pregnancy. Prenatal Essentials drops those cycle-support botanicals and focuses entirely on the vitamin and mineral foundation you and your developing baby need: methylfolate, choline, chelated iron at the full pregnancy RDA, the complete B-complex, and bone-supporting nutrients.

Continue taking Prenatal Essentials throughout breastfeeding and the early postpartum period — your body is still meeting elevated nutritional demands. Once you've finished breastfeeding (or around 6 months postpartum if you're not breastfeeding), you can transition back to Primary Essentials for ongoing cycle and nutritional support.

Most women can, but we always recommend reviewing your full supplement and medication regimen with your OB/GYN. Prenatal Essentials is comprehensive enough to replace a separate multivitamin and iron supplement. If you're taking specific medications (such as thyroid medication or anticoagulants) or other supplements, your provider can confirm timing and compatibility.

Yes! Starting before conception is ideal. The first weeks of pregnancy, when neural tube development happens, often occur before you've taken a positive test. Having adequate folate, iron, choline, and the full nutrient complex on board from day one gives you and your baby the strongest possible foundation. We recommend starting at least 3 months before trying to conceive.
